Avocent Corporation Announces Appointment of Albert Crews as VP of Sales in the Americas

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Feb. 12, 2007 – Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced that Albert E. Crews has been appointed vice president of sales for branded products in the Americas. In his new position, Crews is responsible for revenue building, new business development and channel sales development to support and advance Avocent’s market-leading IT infrastructure management solutions business.

Crews will oversee sales programs for Avocent’s Management Systems Division in the North and South American regions to grow the company’s data center, branch office and SMB sales efforts. The Avocent sales strategy involves selling through channel and distribution partnerships worldwide.

Crews has over 20 years of sales and sales management experience in enterprise IT markets. Prior to joining Avocent, he served as a sales director with Mimosa Systems, a Santa Clara, Calif. based provider of live content management solutions.  He previously held a regional director position with Symantec Corporation (formerly Veritas Software), where he managed business growth from $50M to $130M over a five year period, including the initial integration of the Veritas and Symantec sales teams.  He also held various sales and sales management positions with Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems and Data General Corporation (since acquired by EMC).

Crews earned his M.B.A. as well as a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.
