| Question | Answer |
| Why is Avocent introducing these products? | As a market leader, Avocent is continually driving technology forward and allowing additional installations and markets to use the AutoView 3050, 3100 and 3200 to manage their computing devices no matter where they are located. |
| Where should these appliances be used? | The AutoView Digital appliances are designed for use within a SMB datacenter, but can be used anywhere there are devices that need to be accessed. |
| Can I use these appliances with an analog switch? | Yes, an analog switch can be connected to the AV digital appliances. If certain Avocent analog switch models are used, the AV digital appliances can operate in a seamless mode. What this means is that from the local port of the AV Digital, all of the devices attached to it and the connected analog switch will show in the server list. To access any device, you simply select that one from the OSCAR menu. If the selected server is on the attached analog switch, the AV digital will automatically make that connection without having to navigate the OSD of the attached switch. For a remote user, all of the servers show up in the web interface server list as if they were attached to the AV Digital. To access any of those devices, simply double click on the desired server and the connection will automatically bet set up. |
| What are the default network settings for these switches? | The default network configuration will be:
- IP address: 192.168.1.1
- Netmask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.1.254
- Duplex/Speed will default to "Auto"
|
| What resolution will the switches support? | Maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 at a 75Hz refresh rate and a minimum resolution of 640 x 480 @ 60 Hz. |
| Will these switches be managed with DSView software? | No, the web interface is the only access method. |
